“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).” John 10:10 AMPC

Abundance from God's Perspective

Are you living a life you truly enjoy? Take a moment and think about it. Are you enjoying life or just enduring it? Do you know as Christian believers we should enjoy life so much that it overflows onto others? Jesus died for us not only to enjoy life but to have life in abundance! You may be thinking, what exactly is an abundant life? What does that mean?

When most people hear the word abundance, they only think of money or finances. The abundant life Jesus is referring to goes far beyond money or financial gain. Think about it. Why would Jesus die to give us abundance in only one area of our lives? Contrary to popular belief, money alone does not equal happiness.   We see a countless number of celebrities that have a plethora of money and are not enjoying life. Many have broken homes and are searching for inner-peace in sex, drugs, alcohol, wrong relationships, food, etc. Some celebrities even go so far as to commit suicide because their life here on Earth is unbearable.

The abundant life Jesus is referring to comes from the Greek word for Salvation, called Soteria. Soteria encompasses so many things! It means deliverance; soundness; preservation; happiness; rescue; general wellbeing. It means nothing missing, nothing lacking, or nothing broken. It’s tranquility; safety; soundness; welfare; fullness; rest; harmony; health; absence of agitation or discord; prosperity; Perfectness; etc. Wow! Did you get all of that? Read it again! And meditate on the abundant life Jesus died just for you to have!

So the question now becomes, how do I live this abundant life Jesus died for me to have? Well, we must pursue it and go after it! Nothing just happens! Matthew 6:33 tells us that we must seek or pursue and go after God’s way of doing and being right and the things we desire will come into our lives. We must have Vision, Faith, Trust, and Obedience to God’s word to see the abundant life operating in our lives. We must align our thinking with God’s way of thinking and get rid of our old mindset.

“You will never be able to explore and find new oceans until you are prepared and ready to lose sight of the shore.” In other words, we can’t expect to succeed in holding on to our past and holding on to familiar places. It’s OK to be uncomfortable!

Child of God, Arise and Shine! God has called you to live a life of fulfillment, victory, and abundance! Stop allowing life’s circumstances to bog you down. Your time to shine and live the abundant life is now!
